Global (Tribal)

Global Interior Design is very broad and typically refers to colours, materials, and artifacts from African and Asian regions. At Domaine, we are referring to ‘Global’ as a “well-travelled” aesthetic that can be Tribal, Mediterranean, Plantation, and the like. It can be created by layering various shapes, patterns, and textural elements together which provide interest and add warmth. Sculptural accessories in natural colours and textures, and artwork in region- specific genre will complete this look. The Global colour pallet consists of soft to mid greys, charcoal, bright white, black and warm timber tones. Matt black tapware, lighting, and door furniture can be used for more Tribal and Plantation styles, to sharpen and modernise the look, and chrome for Mediterranean or similar sub-categories.

Hamptons

The Hamptons style is coastal living with laid-back luxury. Natural, elegant, timeless, and inviting, Hamptons style interiors are inspired by the beautiful beaches in a region of Long Island in the US, known as The Hamptons. The key colours used to achieve this look consist of bight whites, creams, and neutral tones with touches of blue, sea-green, and celadon green. The main elements of this style are timber flooring, white shaker-profile joinery, woven textured wallpaper, and soft furnishings and rugs, with patterns like checks and stripes. Furniture with cleaner lines will modernise this style, which typically consists of traditional style furniture pieces in both shape and size. The use of Black tapware, door furniture, frames for artwork, and feature lighting will also add a modern touch.

Coastal

There’s so much to love about coastal interiors — soft whites, relaxed furniture, timber accents and natural textures. Coastal styling is, as the name suggests, heavily influenced by the beach and ocean. To create a coastal ambience, use key elements such as sisal rugs, cane, rattan, linen fabrics, soft, flowing curtains, and colours that are found in coastal regions. The use of light, bright colours and materials enhances natural light and therefore the feeling of spaciousness, which is further enhanced via the use of well-placed mirrors; great if you’re working with a smaller space. Photographic artwork of coastal scenery and relevant botanical art, and full-height v-groove panelling to feature locations will complete this look. The final touch to creating a truly coastal home is a focus on the connection to the outdoors, and the use of textural foliage in planting.

Farmhouse

The classic farmhouse style—also known as ‘traditional farmhouse’, is often defined as a more rustic, country style. The furniture and décor consist of white, rustic oak timber, cane, black metal, and glass. Key elements of this style are large floor rugs that add warmth, texture, and define spaces, and artwork depicting country scenes, botanicals, and location maps. To create a warmer, comforting feeling throughout your home, use soft furnishings made of linen and natural textures. The seamless connection between the outdoors and indoors is an inherent feature of this style. Planting such as feathered grasses in golden tones, and grey-green foliage add the finishing touches.

Retro

Retro style is full of character and provides energy through its use of bright colours and patterns in well considered locations, or via the use of bold designs in artwork and wallpaper in monochromatic tones, if a more subdued aesthetic is what you’re after. This style consists of subcategories such as Palm Springs and Mid-Century Modern. By utilising textured materials, and accent colours such as yellow, burnt orange, teal, green, and pink in artwork and soft furnishings, you can create an oasis that is fun, funky, and interesting. The purpose of Retro design is to evoke nostalgia, conjure fond memories, and encourage sustainability by sourcing products from past eras, saving it from landfill.

Contemporary

Fundamentally, contemporary style decorating is defined by simplicity, subtle sophistication, deliberate use of texture, and clean lines. Furniture and accessories are simple, modern, and streamlined with an uncluttered “no-fuss” approach. Large floor rugs delineate spaces, and fine-print wallpaper can be placed in key locations to create further impact. The Contemporary colour palette consists of white, light grey, and natural oak with black accents. Hero colours can be shades of terracotta, emerald-green, or navy. To create a simply sophisticated space use gloss-finish tiles and minimal accessories.

Boho

Boho is a very eclectic and free-spirited style that is created by gathering treasures. The key elements used to create this style are natural earthy tones, mixed artwork genres, organic shapes and textures, and nature focused decor. Colours to consider when selecting furniture and décor is a warm white, soft beige, brass accents, light timbers, terracotta, clay tones and forest green. Abstract and photographic artwork in soft, subtle, tones are also a great addition to enhance each space. If you’re after a more subtle and cleaner version of this style, then Sophisticated Boho is the style you’re looking for, this has the ‘gathered items’ element of Boho with a more carefully considered feel.

Mindfulness

The purpose of the Mindfulness style is to create spaces that are calming, and that reconnect us with nature. Studies show that being in the great outdoors can improve memory function, reduce blood pressure, and relieve stress. By incorporating natural elements into your home, you can create spaces that are more relaxing and inviting. Key colours used to create this style include warm, natural, timber tones that can be found in nature, as well as accents of soft greens, olives, rusts, beiges, browns, charcoals, and silver greys. The use of calming colours brings simplicity and comfort to a space, which is a key component of the mindfulness design style.

Industrial

The industrial style is quite an eclectic and gathered look that is more masculine in nature. Key elements include tan leather, metal feature lighting, textured stone, timber, glass, and various shades of grey, charcoal, and black. Incorporating sheer curtains, plush rugs, and velvet soft furnishings will add warmth and soften each space. If you’re after a more modern twist, try to incorporate large format artwork and use minimal, sculptural accessories for a cleaner aesthetic. Planting to the exterior, and interior accessories, can either incorporate soft shapes and textures, or sharper and more architectural elements.

Signing contract and colour selections went so smooth. The presenter provided professional information to walk me through the most important aspects of the contract. Colour selections were so efficient. The Consultant has been very patient while we were looking for the right items for our investment home. I would recommend Domaine Homes to my friends for sure.
